Audrey Chen Lew, PhD
Audrey Chen Lew is an assistant professor of teaching in the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at the University of California (UC), Irvine. Her research seeks to develop and validate assessment tools for learning core concepts in neuroscience. She's interested in sleep, moral cognition, and societal implications of neuroscience research. Dr. Lew received her B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology at the UC, Berkeley, M.S. and Ph.D. in Neurobiology at the UC, Los Angeles, and postdoctoral training at Caltech.
Andrea Nicholas, PhD
Andrea Nicholas is an associate professor of teaching in the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at UC, Irvine. She serves as chair of the human biology major — an undergraduate pre-health major that focuses on the biology, physiology, and epidemiology of various diseases. In addition to human biology, Dr. Nicholas teaches introductory biology and several undergraduate courses with an emphasis in neuroscience. Her research interests include learning and memory as it relates to the method and practice of teaching. Dr. Nicholas received her PhD in Neurobiology, Pharmacology and Physiology from the University of Chicago, and postdoctoral training at Stanford University.
Chanel Matney, PhD
Chanel Matney is a neuroscience PhD graduate and science policy professional. She supports activities on neuroscience issues as a program officer at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine: helping inform policy with evidence, spark progress and innovation, and confront challenging issues in the field. Dr. Matney served as a legislative committee consultant for the state of California as a fellow with the California Council of Science and Technology. She earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and her B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Bill Griesar, PhD
Bill Griesar is a senior instructor in Psychology at Portland State University. He is also an adjunct instructor in university studies at Portland State, affiliate graduate faculty in Behavioral Neuroscience at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), and the neuroscience coordinator and co-founder (alongside Jeff Leake) of Northwest (NW) Noggin: an art and neuroscience outreach nonprofit. Dr. Griesar has met with more than 40,000 K-12 students through the entirely volunteer efforts behind NW Noggin, has won numerous teaching awards, and has been recognized as an innovator by the Obama White House.
